Beginners Bird Song

07 April 2018, 10:00 - 14:00 (Add to calendar)

Birdwatching as a pastime is hugely enjoyable and rewarding. It can increase your enjoyment of your garden, countryside walks and can even lead into a life-long career. Being able to identify birds you see and hear greatly increase your connection with nature. It also enables you to give something back and make a real direct difference for conservation by making a note of your sightings.
Our Beginners Bird Song workshop will take you through the basics of identifying species by song and call alone. Instead of overwhelming you with dozens of species we will focus on species that you can go and hear every day helping you to cement the knowledge into place and start to build your ID skills.
You’ll start the day off with a classroom session in our wonderful converted barn at Bickley Hall Farm. Here, Adam Machin, one of our in house experts, will teach you all there is to know about identifying birds from their song and call. You’ll have the chance to familiarise yourself with a wide variety of calls. After lunch you’ll head on a guided walk of the farm to perfect your newly learnt skills.
